Twitter members exchange an astonishing number of updates every hour, ranging from the maddeningly trivial to the mildly.  Members like the service because it lets them stay connected with friends without having to think about technical details such as their friends’ instant-messaging handles or which cellular carrier they use. Twitter is a sophisticated, device-agnostic, social message routing system that nobody realizes they need until they try it. The guts of Twitter is a system that quickly matches new messages coming in from members with the followers.

PerfSpot offers videos, music, customizable profiles, applications and groups. You can even open your own Internet store. PerfSpot has an eclectic collection more than 100 groups to join and you could customize your profile using they’re profile editor. Although you can’t place your own code in like MySpace, you can choose a color scheme pick from one of their pre-made skins and themes. Although PerSpot is a secure site, reviewers felt that there wasn’t enough attention or focus geared toward networking with people you already know.

hi5 has a variety of features such as chat rooms, groups and profile customization. Overall, hi5 is a good social networking website that is very popular all over the world; however, reviewers would like to see them incorporate more “time wasting” features like video and music. Although, reviewers liked that they did not have advertisements on their site. hi5 provides a long comprehensive list of FAQs to answer account questions or how to use the various features of the website. hi5 allows you to be really specific when setting your privacy options.

Friendster is an excellent social networking site. They provide plenty of networking features. You can customize your profile page with skins, photos and videos. Friendster does a good job of providing links for members to report offensive content, and you don’t leave the site feeling that creepy are just staring at your profile. It is easy  to find anyone you may be looking for on Friendster. You can also browse through videos from YouTube, Metacafe and Break; watch the latest movie trailers from Video Detective and music videos from Singing Fool.

Athlinks.com is fabulous. If you are a competitor, you really must check it out.  It’s FREE!  You can log all the events you have competed in and log all your times.  It’s a great way to track your progress in triathlons, marathons, aquathons, duathons, etc. You can post your own pictures. Simply put, anyone on http://Athlinks.com who has been in your races over three times are placed in your rival category automatically! You can privately or publicly list your workouts, trainings, etc. Totally motivational and inspirational!
